Cassava processing produces a lot of peels. Often they get dumped or burned.

But those peels do not have to be waste. Ani Chisom Mary sees a resource that can be recovered and put to use.

Cassava Waste to Value is a community based venture that collects cassava peels and explores turning them into valuable agricultural products, including feed ingredients where it makes sense. It works with local cassava processors, farmers and young people to build a simple collection and processing model, and to create opportunities for skills development and income. EdBot.ai supports ongoing learning in safe handling, processing, entrepreneurship, digital skills and record keeping. The venture starts with a small community pilot and uses measurable results to guide what comes next.

We are proud to announce Cassava Waste to Value as one of the finalists of Solve for Change Season 1 Round 2. 🎉

Peels that were burned or dumped become something a community can use and earn from. That is the idea, tested small first.
